In an interview with Cannabis Economy, Colorado Republican Senator Cory Gardner confirmed that Donald Trump opposed efforts by former Attorney General Jeff Sessions to rescind Obama-Era Justice Department guidance on federal marijuana enforcement priorities. Under Obama’s administration the Cole Memo instructed the Justice Department NOT to pursue legal action against cannabis companies that were conducting business in-line with state laws. Sessions, however, was determined to rescind the Cole Memo and ramp up Justice Department of Federal cannabis laws. Cannabis remains a Schedule I substance alongside drugs like Heroin and Cocaine. Pennsylvania Lawmaker Proposes Recreational Cannabis

A lawmaker in Pennsylvania has submitted a cannabis legalization bill. Democratic state Representative Jake Wheatey introduced HB 50, which would alter the existing medical cannabis bill and pave the way for recreational cannabis in Pennsylvania. Estimates suggest that recreational cannabis could generate upwards of $580 million in revenue for the state. Wheatley outlined that tax revenues would be ideally allocated towards affordable housing, after-school programs, and to the forgiveness of student debts.
